Delhi BJP sets up 7 panels for LS elections




NEW DELHI MAR 1.

Delhi BJP president Om Prakash Kohli on Saturday announced constitution of seven committees to oversee the party’s campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Prof. Kohli announced that a Finance Committee had been set up with senior party leader Kidar Nath Sahani as chairman and Nand Kishore Garg as convener. The other members of the panel are former Delhi BJP presidents Mange Ram Garg and Harsh Vardhan, Praveen Khandelwal, Vijender Gupta, Rajenish Goenka and Shyam Lal Garg.

The Publicity and Campaign Committee will have R.P. Singh as convener and the other members will include Pawan Sharma, Pravesh Verma, Arun Jain, Anirudh Sharma, Kuljeet Singh Chehl, Mahender Nagpal and Anil Sharma.

The Media Committee will have Satish Upadhyaya as convener and Mewa Ram Arya, Vivek Sharma, Inder Mohan Kapahy, Hemant Bishnoi, Virender Sachdeva and Ashok Aggarwal as members.

"It was team work that pulled Railways back to prosperity"




NEW DELHI: President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil received the first copy of “Bankruptcy to Billions: How the Indian Railways Transformed” at a function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday.

The copy was presented to the President by Oxford University Press in-charge for India Manzar Khan.

Also present were Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, authors Sudhir Kumar, IAS and Officer on Special Duty to Railway Minister, and Shagun Mehrotra, research scholar. The Marathi translation was also presented to the President.

Mr. Prasad said the book would be translated into several other languages, including Hindi and Urdu, and called for its translation in Bhojpuri.

Mr. Prasad said Mr. Kumar as an officer who helped implement his decisions and policies was well versed with the nuances of the growth saga. The Minister said it was the teamwork of 14 lakh employees that rewrote the fate of the organisation from “Diwaliya to Diwali (bankruptcy to prosperity).”

He said five years of labour had helped garner a surplus of Rs. 90,000 crore and had it not been for the slowdown the figure would have had been in six figures.
